  • Responsibilities

    The SharePoint Governance Analyst is an IT professional responsible for ensuring that the SharePoint environment is compliant with approved governance standards and processes. The SharePoint Governance Analyst needs a background in governance and compliance as well as experience with SharePoint.


    • Review client file retention dates and coordinate with appropriate personnel to complete or correct dates 
    • Support and assist SharePoint final record requests 
    • Administer the SharePoint e-Discovery process 
    • Manage the SharePoint record retention schedule. Research and assess potential changes and submit to the Governance Committee for approval 
    • Monitor SharePoint execution of record retention requirements and re-mediate as required 
    • Review SharePoint sites to ensure sites are designed, configured and operating within approved standards. Ensure that any exceptions to the standards are appropriately documented 
    • Evaluate site customizations (including new configurations) for compliance with standards 
    • Determine where additional standards are needed. Document and make recommendations to the Governance Committee. Update standards documentation for approved changes 
    • Review and approve documentation for new or custom SharePoint components including sites, web parts, content types, etc. 
    • Monitor SharePoint Groups and Permissions to ensure compliance with governance standards 
    • Maintain SharePoint Site Directory 
    • Create, analyze and monitor list of SharePoint sites with little to no activity and consider for decommissioning 
    • Manage content types including evaluating new content type requests and reviewing content types for decommissioning


    • Bachelor’s degree preferred in related area
    • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
    • Experience with governance, compliance and / or audit
    • Experience with SharePoint or other content / document management solution
    • Experience with record retention and eDiscovery
    • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user friendly language
    • Team oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment
    • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment
    • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and follow written policies and procedures
