  • Responsibilities

    The National Office HR Coordinator (HRC) will directly support the Chief Human Resource Office (CHRO) and provide administrative support for National Office Human Resources. The HRC works collaboratively with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and the Employee Relations Team and provides unmatched client service and effective human resource support to achieve firm goals and objectives. This position supports and assists with daily operations of the HR function including areas such as employee relations, on-boarding, training, performance management, benefits, compensation, and employment law compliance.


    This individual must understand business priorities, proactively anticipate needs, have a take charge/ownership attitude, and react with the appropriate urgency. The HRC will utilize independent judgment and discretion to apply knowledge of BKD policies, procedures, and practices. A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information, as well as professionalism in working with employees and firm leaders, is critical. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and a friendly and professional demeanor. The HRC must demonstrate highly effective organizational and time management skills to ensure maximum productivity. He or she must be adept at working on multiple concurrent tasks, with ongoing interruptions, and have the ability to work with little or no supervision while performing duties. The ability to work as a team player is required.




    • Provides administrative support to the CHRO in areas such as managing calendars, scheduling meetings, event logistics, researching and developing/gathering materials as requested.
    • Maintains a variety of files and documents, records, enters and verifies data into computer systems as needed. Maintains and secures confidentiality regarding the information, data, and files.
    • Assists with new-hire orientation, on-boarding and off-boarding and research projects as requested.
    • Understands or seeks guidance on firm offered benefits to assist new employees as requested.
    • Supports employee events, engagement activities, employee recognition activities and awards.
    • Provides overall administrative support such as preparing forms and reports, composing regular and special correspondence, arranging and coordinating meetings with management and staff, processing and maintaining confidential documents, and other duties as assigned by the CHRO.
    • Compiles and maintains employee records and provides information needed by authorized persons when necessary.
    • Communicates and collaborates well with BKD departments, offices and personnel (of all levels) firm-wide.
    • Stays abreast of new developments, current legal trends and new or changed state and federal laws and regulations impacting employees.
    • Troubleshoots unanticipated challenges and swiftly acts to resolve in an effective manner.


    • Previous Human Resources experience preferred including a working knowledge of a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and applicant tracking system (ATS) preferred
    • Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required. Bachelor degree preferred.
    • Well-developed interpersonal skills to deal with Partners, senior management, and employees on matters of a confidential or sensitive nature as well as the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    • Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks, with ongoing interruptions, and have the ability to work with little to no supervision while performing duties.
    • Ability to work as a team player.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform independently at a high level: self-directed, self-motivated.
    • Proficient in MS Office products.
    • Strong client focus with critical thinking and verbal and written skills; self-starter with strong project management skills; strong attention to detail with excellent prioritization skills required.
